As we continue to expand and innovate, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager to lead our people development and engagement programming and initiatives. Your expertise will not only contribute to our expansion across numerous clinics and locations but also play a pivotal role in solidifying our industry leadership.

The PD&E Senior Manager will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive learning and engagement programs that align with the strategic goals and objectives of Modern Animal. This position requires a strategic thinker with a passion for driving employee development and organizational excellence. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a track record of successful program implementation, a deep understanding of adult learning principles and learning design, and experience creating and implementing comprehensive strategies and programs to support the overall engagement of our employees. Additionally, their expertise extends to guiding cross-functional alignment with key stakeholders to embed a culture of continuous learning throughout the organization.

This role reports directly to the Director of People Development & Engagement and will work from our headquarters in Culver City, CA, with flexibility for remote work during set days of the week. This role will require occasional interstate travel.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership: Mentor and coach a team of learning professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement.

Strategic Planning: Collaborate with key stakeholders and cross-functional partners to develop a strategic vision for learning and development initiatives that support organizational goals and objectives.

Program Design and Implementation: Lead the design, development, and implementation of innovative and engaging learning programs, including leadership development, technical skills training, onboarding programs, and employee engagement initiatives.

Curriculum Development: Create and curate a diverse range of learning content and resources to meet the needs of employees at all levels of the organization.

Learning Delivery: Oversee the delivery of training programs using a variety of modalities, including instructor-led training, e-learning, virtual instructor-led training, and experiential learning opportunities.

Measurement & Evaluation: Establish metrics and key performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of learning and development programs, and utilize data-driven insights to continuously improve program offerings.

Talent Development: Develop and implement a holistic talent development strategy aligned with the company's mission, values, and business objectives, with a focus on identifying and nurturing talent at all levels of the organization. Partner with HR and business leaders to establish clear career paths and succession plans for key roles within the organization, providing employees with opportunities for growth and advancement.

Employee Engagement Initiatives: Lead the development and execution of employee engagement initiatives, including surveys, focus groups, and employee resource groups, to foster a culture of inclusion, belonging, and collaboration.

Vendor Management: Evaluate and manage relationships with external training vendors, consultants, and learning technology providers to ensure the delivery of high-quality learning solutions.

Change Management: Support organizational change initiatives by providing learning and development interventions that help employees navigate transitions and embrace new ways of working.

Budget Management: Develop and manage learning and engagement budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial guardrails.

Why you’d be a great fit:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in learning and development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and best practices in learning technology and delivery methods.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing successful learning programs that drive employee engagement, performance improvement, and talent development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to inspire and motivate teams, foster a culture of learning and innovation, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think analytically, anticipate future trends, and develop long-term learning strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Able to exercise high judgment and deliver results, particularly in a narrow timeframe.
  • Project management experience to ensure projects are designed, implemented, and evaluated effectively.
  • Enthusiasm for Modern Animal’s mission.
  • Experience working in a global or multi-cultural environment is a plus.

The pay range for this position is $137,000 - $160,000 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and equity grant units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the California Pay Transparency Act. Base pay information is based on geographic location.
