Senior Game Art Director

The art team at Believer has one goal; to create an absolutely beautiful game for our players. We want to create stunning visuals that transport our players to another world and bring the game's story and characters to life. It is the Art Team’s mission to create an aesthetically pleasing and cohesive game world that fulfills the player's fantasy of being a part of an epic adventure.

We are seeking an experienced Sr Art Director to help establish a beautifully stylized visual direction for an elaborate new video game world. This game will be an open-world, co-op experience filled with memorable characters and beautiful otherworldly environments. The Game Art Director will oversee the game’s visual design, ensuring that the visual language of our game is incredibly high quality and appealing to players. This role will report to our Chief Creative Officer.

What you’ll do:

• Help develop and direct the visual style for our next-generation open-world co-op video game

• Ensure that the game's art style, color palette, and lighting are consistent with the game's creative vision and that they establish the desired tone and atmosphere for the game

• Collaborate with the IP Art Director, Game Director, and other project leads to ensure that the art direction supports and empowers both the game and the greater IP world-building efforts

• Work with team leads to craft the game's art direction plan and lead its communication and implementation

• Work with the Game Design leads to ensure that the art direction supports the game's mechanics and enhances the player experience

• Manage the Art Team Leads, providing feedback and guidance to ensure industry-leading work and helping them reach their full potential

• Develop and maintain the art pipeline, ensuring efficiency and consistency across all art assets

• Review and approve art assets to ensure that they meet quality standards and are consistent with the game's visual direction

You are a great fit if:

• You have 8+ years of professional experience as an Art Director in the video game industry, with a portfolio demonstrating your ability to create high-quality art direction for games

• You possess excellent visual design skills and a high taste level

• You have experience leading and mentoring a team of artists

• You have experience working with and creating stylized art direction and possess a strong understanding of anatomy, lighting, and color theory

• You have experience working in or leading a team in the Unreal engine

What we offer:

Annual salary range: $230,000-$316,000
