The role
You will be Daytona's founding accounting hire. Finance is one person today and the books run through an outsourced accounting firm. You will own and level up the accounting function: the books, processes, systems, policies, and audit. What accounting looks like at Daytona is your call to make and your job to build.
The timing matters. As our books evolve — hardware, financing, multiple entities, multiple pricing models — you will design the accounting before it's needed rather than untangle it after.
This is a builder's role, and early on that means rolling up your sleeves and taking on both planning and execution responsibilities.
AI infrastructure is the fastest-growing industry in the world right now, and few seats offer a better view of it: you will see every customer, every contract, and every dollar.
What you'll do
Own the relationship with our outsourced accounting firm: set the standard, review their work, and decide what moves in-house and when
Get us audit-ready and lead our first audit from the company side: accounting policies, documentation, controls, auditor selection, and the relationship
Own the monthly close and the reporting package that goes to leadership and the board
Own the future ERP: evaluate options, pick one, and lead the implementation
Take over revenue accounting for usage-based billing: credits, prepayments, deferred revenue
Evolve the fixed asset and financing side of the books as we explore purchasing compute: capitalization, depreciation, leases, debt
Own tax and compliance across our US and international entities with outside advisors: sales tax, state registrations, transfer pricing
Oversee AP and AR
Hire and build the accounting team when the time comes
What we're looking for
You have 8+ years in accounting, including real time at a fast-growing, venture-backed startup
You have led an audit from the company side
You have a CPA
You have an ownership attitude: you treat the books as yours, catch problems early, and fill gaps without being asked
You are energized by building from scratch
You leverage AI in your day-to-day work and are not afraid to automate repetitive tasks
Nice to have
You have infrastructure, cloud, and/or hardware experience
You have experience with usage-based or consumption pricing: metered billing, credits, prepaid commitments
You have led an ERP selection and implementation process
