As the Engineering Manager for our Data Engineering Team, you’ll play a key role in building and leading the team responsible for designing and building the data pipeline that runs our products and business. If you are a player-coach interested in influencing the overall architecture, tools, and services of our ETL with a collaborative team then this role is for you.
What you’ll do:
- Build tools and automation that gather and process raw data at scale from diverse sources
- Implement scalable, fault-tolerant, and accurate ETLs frameworks
- Implement and maintain a high level of data quality monitoring in our analytics
- Manage a team of direct reports and lead the team to achieving their objectives and outcomes
- Operate as both a player and coach by owning the team’s backlog while still contributing to the code base
- Provide technical leadership and career development opportunities for members of your team
- Contribute to agile team ceremonies and processes (stand-ups, groomings, planning meetings)
What you’ll need:
- Experience managing a team of technical individual contributors
- Experience as a data engineer automating data pipelines and improving the performance of ETL processes and usage of relational and NoSQL databases
- Experience with Cloud Platform Services (AWS, GCP, and/or Azure)
- Experience designing and building ETL processes
- Fundamental understanding of NoSQL and relational database design
- Embracive culture of alerting and monitoring
- Familiarity with deploying applications using containers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
Bonus points if you:
- Built internal frameworks or development productivity tools
- Application development experience
- Have experience with a microservices architecture
- Developed in environments with large amounts of data
- Experience working with PII
- Experience with compliance standards (ex. HIPAA)
